The Gatherer

The show „The Gatherer“ reflects on the basket and forms of gathering. Ceramics, drawings and quilts are in a conversation with one another; sometimes the drawing occurs on a ceramic object or the ceramics are framed by quilting. The basket enters as a symbol of our responsibility and also of our capacity to nourish and be nourished in earthly connection. Nourishing and growing always happen on an ecological scale, in interdependency with all forms of the living. On a small scale, there are children filling their baskets with experience. On another, mothering is an attribute to any living being living in attunement with its surroundings, gathering and caring, but also, mothering the earth. In between lays the exhaustion of the mother and the earth alike.
